Expansion at Universal Polythex (UP; D- 52531 Übach-Palenberg; www.universal-poIythex.de): It was only in June that the sheet and film extruder commissioned a further extrusion line for multilayer sheets made of ABS/PMMA and ABS/TPU with an output capacity of 4,000 tonnes per year. Polythex has now announced a further expansion: The production site is to be expanded to include a 7,000 m2 warehouse and logistics centre for finished goods.

The corresponding plot of land has already been purchased, announced Stefan Nickolai, Managing Partner of Universal Polythex. He put the investment sum for the new building at EUR 4 million. Completion is planned for 2024. “The expansion will create 20 jobs”, he said.

The expansion will create space for additional extrusion lines in the existing plant, Mr Nickolai told KI. The aim is to increase the capacity of existing production by 4,000 tonnes per line. Universal Polythex was taken over by Stefan Nickolai in 2000 and has been continuously expanding ever since. The company currently employs 200 people. The current production volume is 25,000 tonnes, half of which is exported. Universal Polythex expects turnover of around EUR 70 million for the current year 2022.
